Two-stage under-sink water filtration — 0.01 μm ultrafiltration + activated carbon
The IMT-D5 ultrafiltration unit uses membrane technology with a pore size of 0.01 micrometre. The membrane physically captures and removes viruses, bacteria, algae, rust, chlorine and its compounds, microplastics and nanoplastics from water. Unlike a UV lamp, it does not just inactivate microorganisms but physically removes them from the water including dead cells. At the same time, it keeps all beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium).
Two different filtered water outlets
The IMT-D5 combines a PAN ultrafiltration membrane (0.01 μm) with an integrated activated carbon filter and a special two-way flow technology. The OUTLET supplies water filtered by the UF membrane only (it can also be used for membrane backwashing), while the OUTLET+ supplies water filtered by both stages — free of chlorine and odours as well.
Touch display showing filter wear
The unit has a touch display that shows the current condition of both filter cartridges and automatically alerts you when they need replacing. Replacing the PPC filter takes just 5 seconds without tools.
Long filter life
The PAN ultrafiltration membrane lasts up to 36 months. The PPC activated carbon cartridge lasts up to 12 months. The unit is designed for installation under the kitchen sink. We recommend a three-way faucet for easy switching between filtered and unfiltered water, but it can also be used with your existing two-way kitchen faucet.

FAQ
Everything you need to know about the IMT-D5
What is the IMT-D5 and what is it for?
The IMT-D5 is an under-sink ultrafiltration unit with a 0.01 μm PAN membrane and an integrated activated carbon filter. It removes viruses, bacteria, algae, microplastics, chlorine and its compounds while keeping beneficial minerals. It is designed for installation under the kitchen sink and requires an electrical socket and a drain.
What is the difference between the OUTLET and OUTLET+?
The OUTLET supplies water filtered by the ultrafiltration membrane only. The OUTLET+ supplies water filtered by both stages, the UF membrane and the activated carbon filter, so it is also free of chlorine, odours and organic substances.
Will the IMT-D5 replace a UV lamp?
Yes, and it is more effective. A UV lamp only inactivates bacteria and viruses, but their bodies remain in the water. The IMT-D5 physically captures microorganisms with a 0.01 μm membrane and removes them from the water completely, including dead cells. It also removes chlorine, organic substances and microplastics, which a UV lamp does not.
How long do the filters last and how are they replaced?
The PAN ultrafiltration membrane lasts up to 36 months (marked (A) on the display). The C activated carbon filter lasts up to 12 months (marked (B) on the display). The unit alerts you automatically on the touch display when a replacement is due. Replacing the C filter takes a few seconds without tools; replacing the PAN membrane requires a special H2O nanotec key and takes 15–30 minutes.
Is the IMT-D5 suitable for well water?
Yes. The IMT-D5 reliably removes bacteria, viruses, algae, sludge and microplastics typical of well water. If the water also contains pesticides, pharmaceuticals or heavy metals, we recommend considering the IMT-NC9 nanofiltration. H2O nanotec offers a free consultation based on your water analysis.
Does the IMT-D5 need electricity?
Yes. Unlike the whole-house IMT-U7 and IMT-U8 models, the IMT-D5 requires an electrical socket (220 V / 6 W) to power the touch display and electronics. The filtration itself is driven by mains water pressure, without a pump.
How does the IMT-D5 differ from the IMT-D3?
Both units are under-sink ultrafiltration systems with a 0.01 μm PAN membrane. The IMT-D5 also has an integrated touch display showing the wear of filters (A) and (B). The IMT-D3 is a simpler and cheaper model without a display; it has a higher flow rate of up to 10 l/min and can therefore also be used with an existing two-way faucet.
What is the flow rate of the IMT-D5?
The IMT-D5 has a flow rate of 5 litres per minute, which is sufficient for use with a standard two-way faucet. To filter all the water in the whole house, we recommend the whole-house IMT-U7 or IMT-U8 models.
🔬 Scientific basis: The effectiveness of ultrafiltration in removing E. coli and coliform bacteria from well water has been documented by RNDr. Jiří Polman CSc., managing director of H2O nanotec, with reference to scientific literature (LeChevallier et al., Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 1988).
