How to choose the right filter

Which water filtration technologies do you offer?

We offer five main technologies: Nanofiltration (membrane pore size 0.001 µm – the most advanced), Ultrafiltration (0.01 µm – removes bacteria and viruses), Reverse osmosis (0.0001 µm – ultrapure water), Water softeners (ion exchange for hard water) and the patented H2O nanotec V2 filter – Czech nanotechnology developed over 11 years of research.

My water contains bacteria or viruses – what should I choose?

We recommend ultrafiltration (IMT-U7, IMT-U8, IMT-D3, IMT-D5) or nanofiltration (IMT-NC9, V2 filter). If the water is also contaminated with pesticides, pharmaceuticals or heavy metals, choose nanofiltration – it handles these organic contaminants as well.

I have hard water and scale in my boiler – what should I choose?

For the whole house, the ideal choice is an IMT-S2 or IMT-S4 automatic water softening station. They work automatically – you just top up the regeneration salt. Alternatively, you can use IMT-NC9 nanofiltration, which partially softens the water while removing other impurities.

My well water contains nitrates – what should I choose?

The most effective option is IMT-NC9 nanofiltration. Measurements by the Technical University of Liberec showed nitrates reduced from 40.7 mg/l to 4.4 mg/l – below the limit for infant water. Alternatives are the nitrate removal filter or reverse osmosis.

I want to remove pesticides, hormones, pharmaceuticals and microplastics – what should I choose?

The best choice is nanofiltration or the H2O nanotec V2 filter. Certified measurements (TUL, SGS) confirmed: atrazine (a pesticide) reduced from 1,135 ng/l to less than 1.5 ng/l, chloroform and organic substances below the detection limit. The V2 filter also needs no electricity or drain.

What is the difference between nanofiltration and reverse osmosis?

Both technologies remove bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, pesticides and microplastics. The key difference: nanofiltration partially preserves beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium) in the water, while reverse osmosis removes them completely and produces ultrapure demineralised water. Nanofiltration is therefore better for the body.

I just want better-tasting tap water – what is enough?

For mains water, the H2O nanotec V2 filter is enough. It is installed under the sink and needs no electricity or drain. It removes chlorine, microplastics and organic impurities, keeps minerals and significantly improves the taste of water.

Choosing by place of use

I'm looking for an under-sink filter for my kitchen – what are my options?

Under the sink we install: the H2O nanotec V2 filter (no electricity or drain needed), IMT-NC9 nanofiltration (requires power supply and drain), IMT-D3 ultrafiltration or reverse osmosis systems. For under-sink filters, we recommend a three-way kitchen tap.

I need a solution for the whole house or a well – what should I choose?

For the whole house, choose IMT-U7 or IMT-U8 ultrafiltration and IMT-S2 or IMT-S4 water softening stations. They are installed on the main water supply. For wells with higher contamination, we recommend ultrafiltration or IMT-NC9 nanofiltration.

I'm looking for a solution for a guesthouse or hotel – what do you recommend?

For larger operations, IMT-U8 PSG ultrafiltration or IMT-NC9 nanofiltration is suitable. For eco-friendly laundry, we offer the PROFI ozone generator. We will be happy to prepare a tailored solution – contact us.

Ozone water and hydrogen water

What are ozone products used for?

Ozone is a natural disinfectant – it destroys bacteria, viruses and mould without chemicals and breaks down back into water and oxygen after use. Our products are suitable for: kitchen and bathroom hygiene (BioSure Professional, H3000 Mini spray bottle), food disinfection (food sterilizer) and low-temperature, chemical-free laundry (ozone generator for washing machines).

What is hydrogen water and what is it for?

Hydrogen water is water enriched with molecular hydrogen (H₂). We offer the H2O nanotec portable hydrogen cup – a compact device for everyday use at home and on the go.

Practical questions

Do I need a professional to install the filter?

Under-sink filters (V2 filter, IMT-D3, IMT-D5) can be installed by a capable DIYer – the connection is a standard 3/8" or 1/2". For more complex systems (IMT-NC9, whole-house filters, softeners), we offer professional installation. You can find more information about installation and service support on the Professional installation of H2O nanotec equipment page.

How often are filter cartridges replaced?

Filter cartridges for the H2O nanotec V2 filter (type C V2) are usually replaced twice a year. For the IMT-NC9, IMT-RS8 NANO and reverse osmosis filters, PPC, C and NF cartridges are available — the recommended replacement interval is 12 months (PPC and C cartridges) and 36 months (NF and RO cartridges). The exact interval depends on the quality of the input water. Devices with a power supply automatically monitor cartridge life and alert you when replacement is due. You can find the spare parts for each device in the Related products tab.

Can used filter cartridges be recycled?

Yes. Used cartridges from H2O nanotec filters only can be recycled – we regenerate the cartridges and dispose of the captured harmful substances in an environmentally friendly way. Unlike conventional carbon filters, the captured chemicals do not end up back in nature. For every returned type C filter cartridge, you also receive a €8 discount coupon for your next purchase. You can easily register the return on the Recycling, returns and claims page; the terms are in Art. 7 of the Terms and Conditions.
