Clean water for the whole house — IMT-U5 point-of-entry ultrafiltration
The IMT-U5 ultrafiltration unit uses membrane technology with a pore size of 0.01 micrometre. The membrane physically captures and removes viruses, bacteria, sludge, rust, microplastics and other harmful substances from water. Unlike a UV lamp or chlorination, it does not just inactivate microorganisms but physically removes them from the water — including dead cells. At the same time, it keeps all beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium).
High flow rate of 2,000 l/h for the whole household
A flow rate of 2,000 l/h (33.3 l/min) — twice that of the smaller IMT-U4 — covers even situations where the shower, washing machine and kitchen tap are running at the same time. The unit works on household mains pressure alone — no electricity, no pump. The PAN (polyacrylonitrile) membrane is hydrophilic and highly resistant to biofouling.
Point-of-entry installation — one solution for the whole house
The IMT-U5 is designed solely for installation on the main water supply (point of entry), so it filters all the water in the building from one place — unlike the smaller IMT-U4, which can also be installed under the kitchen sink. Its higher capacity and more robust design make the IMT-U5 a good choice for family houses with lower water consumption as well as for commercial premises. G3/4" connection. It needs no electricity, but a drain is required at the installation site.
Long membrane life and sturdy construction
The PAN membrane lasts up to 36 months. Frequent flushing of captured impurities extends its life. We recommend installing an IMT-M5 or IMT-M8 pressure regulator with a mechanical pre-filter upstream of the IMT-U5 — this significantly extends membrane life. The brushed 304 stainless steel housing withstands both dynamic water hammer pressure and static pressure. The unit can be wall-mounted in any position, so it easily fits the space in your utility room.

FAQ
Everything you need to know about the IMT-U5
What is the IMT-U5 and what is it for?
The IMT-U5 is an ultrafiltration unit with a 0.01 μm PAN membrane for installation on the main water supply (point of entry). It removes viruses, bacteria, sludge, rust and microplastics while keeping beneficial minerals. It supplies the whole house with clean water from one place. It needs no electricity, but a drain is required at the installation site.
What is the difference between the IMT-U5 and IMT-U4?
Both units use the same 0.01 μm PAN membrane and work without electricity, with the same membrane life (36 months). The IMT-U4 can also be installed under the kitchen sink and has a flow rate of 1,000 l/h. The IMT-U5 is designed solely for point-of-entry installation, has twice the flow rate (2,000 l/h) and a more robust housing (695 × 152 × 157 mm, 9.3 kg) — suitable for households with higher water consumption.
Can the IMT-U5 supply the whole house when water is drawn from several points at once?
Yes. Thanks to its flow rate of 2,000 l/h, it can cover simultaneous use at several points in the house — for example the shower, washing machine and kitchen tap at the same time — without loss of pressure.
Can the IMT-U5 be installed under the sink?
No, the IMT-U5 is designed solely for installation on the main water supply (point of entry). If you only need a filter for one tap under the sink, choose the smaller IMT-U4, which can be installed either way.
Will the IMT-U5 replace a UV lamp?
Yes, and it is more effective. A UV lamp only inactivates bacteria and viruses, but their bodies remain in the water. The IMT-U5 physically captures microorganisms with a 0.01 μm membrane and removes them from the water completely, including dead cells. It also needs no electricity or bulb replacement.
Does the IMT-U5 need electricity or a drain?
The IMT-U5 needs no electricity — it works on household mains pressure alone. However, a drain is required at the installation site for membrane flushing.
Is the IMT-U5 suitable for well water?
Yes. The IMT-U5 reliably removes bacteria, viruses, algae, sludge and microplastics typical of well water, and as it is installed at the point of entry, it filters all the water in the building. If the water also contains pesticides, pharmaceuticals or heavy metals, ask us about adding nanofiltration — H2O nanotec offers a free consultation based on your water analysis.
How long does the membrane last and how is it replaced?
The PAN ultrafiltration membrane lasts up to 36 months, depending on the quality of the incoming water. We recommend installing an IMT-M5 or IMT-M8 pressure regulator with a mechanical pre-filter upstream of the IMT-U5, which significantly extends membrane life.
🔬 Scientific basis: The effectiveness of ultrafiltration in removing E. coli and coliform bacteria from well water has been documented by RNDr. Jiří Polman CSc., managing director of H2O nanotec, with reference to scientific literature (LeChevallier et al., Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 1988).
