Clean, healthy water for the whole house
The IMT-U7 ultrafiltration unit uses membrane technology with a pore size of 0.01 micrometre — that is 10× finer than a human hair. The membrane captures and removes bacteria, viruses, sludge, rust, algae, sediments, microplastics and nanoplastics from water. Unlike a UV lamp or chlorination, it does not just inactivate microorganisms but physically removes them from the water including dead cells. At the same time, it keeps all beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium) in the water.
A UV lamp replacement — no electricity, no bulb costs
The IMT-U7 is a full-fledged UV lamp replacement with lower running costs. It works without electricity — powered only by household mains pressure (0.1–0.4 MPa). There are no costs for UV bulbs or regular radiation intensity checks. The PAN (polyacrylonitrile) membrane is hydrophilic and highly resistant to biofouling.
High flow rate — a solution for the whole house
A flow rate of 3 m3/h fully covers the needs of the whole household. The IMT-U7 is installed on the main water supply (point of entry) and filters all the water in the building — in the bathroom, kitchen and garden. Suitable for family houses, flats and offices.
Long membrane life
The PAN membrane lasts up to 36 months. The unit has a flushing system for captured impurities that extends membrane life. We recommend installing an IMT-M5 or IMT-M8 pressure regulator with a mechanical pre-filter upstream of the IMT-U7, which significantly extends membrane life and reduces how often it needs replacing.
Sturdy stainless steel construction
The brushed 304 stainless steel housing withstands both dynamic water hammer pressure and static pressure. The unit can be placed horizontally (horizontal support) or wall-mounted using the supplied brackets.

FAQ
Everything you need to know about the IMT-U7
What is the IMT-U7 and what is it for?
The IMT-U7 is a whole-house ultrafiltration unit with a membrane with 0.01 micrometre pores. It is installed on the main water supply (point of entry) and filters all the water in the household. It removes viruses, bacteria, algae, sludge, sediments and microplastics, while keeping beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium) in the water. Suitable for family houses, flats and offices.
Will the IMT-U7 replace a UV lamp?
Yes, and it is more effective and cheaper to run. A UV lamp only inactivates (kills) bacteria and viruses, but their bodies remain in the water. IMT-U7 ultrafiltration physically captures microorganisms and removes them from the water completely, including dead cells. It also works without electricity, without replacing UV bulbs and without checking radiation intensity.
Will the IMT-U7 remove E. coli and coliform bacteria from well water?
Yes. The IMT-U7 membrane has 0.01 micrometre pores, while E. coli bacteria measure 0.5–5 micrometres — so they are 50 to 500 times larger than the membrane pore. The bacteria are physically captured and removed from the water. Ultrafiltration is more reliable than chlorination or UV radiation because it does not just inactivate microorganisms but physically removes them.
How does IMT-U7 ultrafiltration differ from IMT-NC9 nanofiltration?
The IMT-U7 (ultrafiltration, 0.01 μm) removes viruses, bacteria, sludge and microplastics, but does not remove chemicals such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hormones or heavy metals. The IMT-NC9 or IMT-RS8 NANO nanofiltration (0.001 μm) removes these contaminants, but it is an under-sink solution for a single tap with a lower flow rate. The IMT-U7 is a whole-house solution that works without electricity. For maximum drinking water protection, the two systems can be combined.
Is the IMT-U7 suitable for well water?
Yes. The IMT-U7 reliably removes bacteria, viruses, algae, sludge and sediments typical of well water. If the water also contains pesticides, pharmaceuticals or heavy metals, we recommend adding IMT-NC9 or IMT-RS8 NANO nanofiltration at the drinking water tap. H2O nanotec offers a free consultation based on your water analysis.
How long does the IMT-U7 membrane last and how is it replaced?
The PAN ultrafiltration membrane in the IMT-U7 lasts up to 36 months, depending on the quality of the incoming water. We recommend installing a pressure regulator with a mechanical pre-filter (IMT-M5 or IMT-M8) upstream of the IMT-U7, which significantly extends membrane life. Replacement is simple and can be done yourself.
Does the IMT-U7 need electricity or a booster pump?
No. The IMT-U7 works on normal household mains pressure (0.1–0.4 MPa) alone and needs no electricity or booster pump. This makes it cheaper to run, silent and almost maintenance-free compared with nanofiltration or reverse osmosis.
What is the flow rate of the IMT-U7 and what size of house is it for?
The IMT-U7 has a flow rate of 3 m3 per hour, which fully covers the needs of a standard family house or flat. For larger buildings such as guesthouses, hotels or companies with higher water consumption, we recommend the higher-capacity IMT-U8, or two or more units installed in parallel for a high flow rate.
🔬 Scientific basis: The effectiveness of ultrafiltration in removing E. coli and coliform bacteria from well water has been documented by RNDr. Jiří Polman CSc., managing director of H2O nanotec, with reference to scientific literature (LeChevallier et al., Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 1988).
