Nitrate Removal Filter
Does your well or mains water have elevated nitrate levels? The H2O nanotec nitrate removal filter with NRC anion exchange resin removes nitrates, nitrites, chlorates and manganese from drinking water. The compact filter is installed under the kitchen sink and connects to the cold water angle valve and your tap's cold water hose. Simply regenerate the filling regularly with ordinary salt.
The nitrate filter is ideal for removing
- Nitrates and nitrites, which are dangerous mainly for infants and young children.
- Chlorates from drinking water.
- Manganese.
- Nitrates from wells in agricultural areas.
Why you will love the nitrate filter
- The compact filter fits under the kitchen sink and saves cupboard space.
- Easy connection to the angle valve and cold water hose without altering your plumbing.
- Regeneration with ordinary salt in 15 minutes, without electricity or chemicals.
- With regular regeneration, the filling lasts approximately 6 years.

Give your family water without nitrates
High levels of nitrates and nitrites in drinking water are a health risk, especially for infants and young children. The H2O nanotec nitrate removal filter uses proven ion exchange technology that effectively removes these substances from water, even at high concentrations. It suits both well water and mains water.
The filter removes
- Nitrates and nitrites.
- Chlorates.
- Manganese.
What the nitrate filter does not remove: water hardness (calcium and magnesium), iron, or bacteria and viruses. The filter is intended for microbiologically safe water. For limescale, use a water softener; for iron, the iron and manganese filter; and for bacteria and viruses, ultrafiltration. Complete treatment including nitrates is provided by IMT-NC9 nanofiltration.
Key benefits for your home
- Protection for the youngest: water better suited to preparing food and drinks for children.
- Economical operation: the filling can be regenerated, so running costs are minimal.
- Discreet installation: the compact filter fits under the kitchen sink.
- No electricity: the filter works on a purely physico-chemical principle.
How does ion exchange technology work?
At the heart of the filter is the NRC filter cartridge with anion exchange resin. As water flows through, the resin captures nitrate and nitrite ions and exchanges them for harmless ions. When the filling's capacity is exhausted, regeneration with ordinary salt restores it, so the resin stays effective for many years.
Technical features and design
- Special anion resin: designed to remove nitrates even in the presence of other substances.
- Robust housing: rated for pressures up to 8 bar.
- Standard connection: F 1/2" threads for easy connection to the cold water supply.
- Long service life: with proper maintenance, the filling lasts up to 6 years.
Regeneration with salt – simple and tool-free
- Shut off the water supply and open the cold water tap to release the pressure.
- Unscrew the filter housing with the supplied wrench and remove the cartridge.
- Immerse the cartridge for 10–15 minutes in 3–4 litres of saturated salt solution, moving it so the solution gets inside.
- Put the cartridge back, tighten the housing and flush the filter with approx. 5 litres of water.
How often to regenerate is shown in the manual with the regeneration table (PDF, in Czech). The interval depends on the nitrate concentration in your water.
NOTICE: the filter is intended for cold water up to 38 °C only and for microbiologically safe water. For correct operation, keep to the recommended flow of 2–3 l/min and regenerate regularly according to the table. If you do not know the nitrate concentration, we recommend a water analysis first.
Replacement filter cartridge
After about 6 years of operation, or when regeneration no longer helps, order the replacement nitrate removal cartridge. Replacing it takes just a few minutes, like regeneration.

FAQ
Everything you need to know about the nitrate removal filter
Why are nitrates in water dangerous?
In the body, nitrates can be converted into nitrites, which reduce the blood's ability to carry oxygen. Infants are the most vulnerable. The EU limit for drinking water is 50 mg/l; for preparing baby food we recommend considerably less.
How do I know when it is time to regenerate?
The interval depends on the nitrate concentration and the volume of water used. Follow the regeneration table, or check your water roughly with test strips.
What salt can I use for regeneration?
Any pure salt (NaCl) without iodine, including tablet salt for water softeners.
Where is the filter installed?
Under the kitchen sink. It connects to the cold water angle valve and your tap's cold water hose, so filtered water flows straight from your kitchen tap.
Does the filter also remove limescale or bacteria?
No. The filter removes nitrates, nitrites, chlorates and manganese. For limescale, use a water softener; for bacteria and viruses, ultrafiltration.
Will the filter affect the taste of the water?
Nitrates and nitrites are tasteless, so the taste will not change much. Removing chlorates and other substances may improve it slightly.
How long does the filter filling last?
With regular regeneration, approximately 6 years. Then replace it with a replacement cartridge.
🔬 How it works: The anion resin exchanges nitrate and nitrite ions for harmless ions, and brine then restores it. If you do not know the nitrate concentration in your water, have it analysed – we will be happy to advise you.
