Replacement filter cartridge for nitrate removal
Replacement 10" filter cartridge H2O nanotec with NRC anion exchange resin removes nitrates, nitrites, manganese and chlorates from drinking water. It is designed for the H2O nanotec nitrate removal filter, and thanks to regeneration with plain brine, the filling lasts for several years.
- Only for the H2O nanotec nitrate removal filter (10" cartridge)
- Ion exchange on NRC anion resin
- Removes nitrates, nitrites, manganese and chlorates at any concentration
- Does not remove water hardness, iron, bacteria or viruses
- Regeneration with brine in 15 minutes, no tools or chemicals
- Filling life approx. 6 years with regular regeneration
- Recommended flow 2–3 l/min, cold water up to 38 °C

Replacement nitrate removal cartridge — clean well water, even for babies
The H2O nanotec 10" replacement cartridge is designed for the nitrate removal filter. It is filled with NRC anion exchange resin, which removes nitrates, nitrites, manganese and chlorates from drinking water. These occur mainly in wells in agricultural areas and are particularly dangerous for infants and pregnant women.
The cartridge needs no special maintenance. Simply regenerate the filling regularly with plain brine and it will last approximately 6 years. Only then do you replace it with a new one.
How the cartridge works — ion exchange
- Ion exchange: water flows through the NRC filling, which binds negatively charged nitrate, nitrite and chlorate ions and exchanges them for harmless chlorides.
- Regeneration: when the filling's capacity is exhausted, brine flushes out the captured substances and the filling is ready to use again.
Calcium and magnesium pass through the cartridge, so the water keeps its natural mineral content.
What the cartridge removes and what it does not
The cartridge removes:
- nitrates and nitrites
- manganese
- chlorates
The cartridge does not remove:
- water hardness (calcium and magnesium)
- iron
- bacteria and viruses
For limescale, use a water softener; for iron, the iron and manganese filter; and for microbiological contamination, ultrafiltration. Complete treatment including nitrates is provided by IMT-NC9 nanofiltration.
Regeneration with brine — step by step
- Shut off the water supply to the filter and open the cold water tap to release the pressure.
- Using the supplied wrench, unscrew the white lower part of the filter (the housing).
- Pour the water out of the housing, remove the NRC cartridge and let it drain.
- Pour 3–4 litres of saturated salt solution into the housing or another suitable container and place the cartridge in it for 10–15 minutes.
- Submerge the cartridge completely and move it around so the solution gets inside.
- Pour out the brine, rinse the housing, put the cartridge back and tighten with the supplied wrench.
- Restore the water supply and flush the filter (approx. 5 litres of water).
When to regenerate and when to replace the cartridge
How often the filling needs regenerating depends on the nitrate concentration in your water and your consumption. You will find the interval in the table below. If you do not know the concentration, we recommend a water analysis first. With regular regeneration, the filling lasts approx. 6 years; then replace the cartridge with a new one.

⚠ NOTICE: The cartridge is intended only for the H2O nanotec nitrate removal filter and for cold water up to 38 °C only. If your water has elevated iron content, install the iron and manganese filter upstream, otherwise the filling will clog quickly.
FAQ
Everything you need to know about the nitrate removal cartridge
Which filter does the cartridge fit?
The 10" cartridge is designed for the H2O nanotec nitrate removal filter. We do not recommend using it in other filters.
Why are nitrates in water dangerous?
In the body, nitrates can be converted into nitrites, which reduce the blood's ability to carry oxygen. Infants are the most vulnerable, so water for preparing baby food should not exceed the 50 mg/l limit, and we recommend considerably less for infants.
How often does the cartridge need regenerating?
It depends on the nitrate concentration and water consumption. You will find the interval in the table in the description. The higher the concentration, the more often regeneration is needed.
What salt is suitable for regeneration?
Ordinary regeneration salt or non-iodised table salt is enough. You do not need any special chemicals.
How long does the cartridge last?
With regular regeneration, the filling lasts approximately 6 years. Then replace it with a new one.
Does the cartridge also remove limescale or bacteria?
No. The cartridge removes nitrates, nitrites, manganese and chlorates. For limescale, use a softener; for bacteria and viruses, ultrafiltration.
💧 Tip: If you do not know the nitrate concentration in your water, have it analysed. We will be happy to recommend a solution based on the results.
