Two-stage under-sink water filtration — 0.01 μm ultrafiltration + activated carbon
The IMT-D3 ultrafiltration unit uses membrane technology with a pore size of 0.01 micrometre. The membrane physically captures and removes viruses, bacteria, algae, rust, microplastics and nanoplastics from water. Unlike a UV lamp, it does not just inactivate microorganisms but physically removes them from the water — including dead cells. At the same time, it keeps all beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium). The integrated activated carbon filter removes chlorine and unpleasant odours.
Two filtered water outlets
The IMT-D3 combines a PAN ultrafiltration membrane (0.01 μm) with an integrated activated carbon filter and a special two-way flow technology. The OUTLET supplies water filtered by the UF membrane only (it can also be used for membrane backwashing), while the OUTLET+ supplies water filtered by both stages — free of chlorine and odours as well.
No electricity — simple under-sink installation
Unlike the IMT-D5, the IMT-D3 needs no electrical socket. It works on household mains pressure alone (0.1–0.4 MPa). A flow rate of 10 l/min fully covers a household's needs at a single tap. Installation under the kitchen sink is simple; we recommend a three-way faucet.
Long filter life
The PAN ultrafiltration membrane lasts up to 36 months. The carbon filter lasts up to 12 months. Replacing the filter cartridges is easy — we recommend the special IMT key for easy removal.

FAQ
Everything you need to know about the IMT-D3
What is the IMT-D3 and what is it for?
The IMT-D3 is an under-sink ultrafiltration unit with a 0.01 μm PAN membrane and an integrated activated carbon filter. It removes viruses, bacteria, algae, microplastics, chlorine and unpleasant odours while keeping beneficial minerals. It needs no electricity, but a drain is required at the installation site. It is designed for installation under the kitchen sink.
What is the difference between the IMT-D3 and IMT-D5?
Both units are under-sink ultrafiltration systems with a 0.01 μm PAN membrane and activated carbon. The main differences: the IMT-D3 needs no electricity, has a higher flow rate (10 l/min vs 5 l/min) and a lower price. The IMT-D5 also offers a touch display showing filter wear. If you do not need a display, the IMT-D3 is the simpler, low-maintenance choice with a higher flow rate.
Will the IMT-D3 replace a UV lamp?
Yes — and it is more effective. A UV lamp only inactivates bacteria and viruses, but their bodies remain in the water. The IMT-D3 physically captures microorganisms with a 0.01 μm membrane and removes them from the water completely — including dead cells. It also needs no electricity, no bulb replacement and no radiation intensity checks.
Does the IMT-D3 need electricity or a drain?
The IMT-D3 works on household mains pressure alone (0.1–0.4 MPa) and needs no electricity, but it does require a drain at the installation site. This sets it apart from the IMT-D5, which requires electricity. Installation is therefore simpler and cheaper.
Is the IMT-D3 suitable for well water?
Yes. The IMT-D3 reliably removes bacteria, viruses, algae, sludge and microplastics typical of well water. If the water also contains pesticides, pharmaceuticals or heavy metals, we recommend considering IMT-NC9 or IMT-RS8 NANO nanofiltration. H2O nanotec offers a free consultation based on your water analysis.
How long do the filters last and how are they replaced?
The PAN ultrafiltration membrane lasts up to 36 months. The carbon filter lasts up to 12 months. A handy DIYer can replace the filter cartridges without much trouble; we recommend buying the special H2O nanotec key to remove the cartridges easily without damaging the threads.
What is the flow rate of the IMT-D3?
The IMT-D3 has a flow rate of 10 litres per minute — higher than the IMT-D5 (5 l/min). It is sufficient for an existing two-way kitchen faucet, which significantly reduces the initial investment. To filter all the water in the whole house, we recommend the whole-house IMT-U7 or IMT-U8 models.
How does the IMT-D3 differ from the whole-house IMT-U7?
The IMT-D3 is an under-sink solution for a single tap with a flow rate of 10 l/min. The IMT-U7 is a whole-house unit installed on the main water supply (point of entry) with a flow rate of 3 m3/h that filters all the water in the building. The IMT-D3 is suitable for treating drinking water at the kitchen sink, the IMT-U7 for complete protection of the whole household.
🔬 Scientific basis: The effectiveness of ultrafiltration in removing E. coli and coliform bacteria from well water has been documented by RNDr. Jiří Polman CSc., managing director of H2O nanotec, with reference to scientific literature (LeChevallier et al., Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 1988).
