Clean, healthy water for the whole house — with smart automation
The IMT-U8 PSG ultrafiltration unit uses membrane technology with a pore size of 0.01 micrometre. The PAN membrane captures and removes bacteria, viruses, sludge, rust, algae, sediments, microplastics and nanoplastics from water. Unlike a UV lamp or chlorination, it does not just inactivate microorganisms but physically removes them from the water including dead cells. At the same time, it keeps all beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium).
Large, clear display
All information is clearly shown on the display: the current operating mode, Wi-Fi connection status, water flow and membrane condition. Three basic buttons let you configure all the unit's settings with ease.
Automatic operation — the unit looks after itself
Once set up, the unit automatically flushes the PAN membrane at set intervals without any user intervention. The more often it flushes, the longer the membrane lasts. A flow rate of 4 m3/h fully covers the needs of the whole building, including larger houses, guesthouses or hotels.
Flood protection for your home — water leak detection from 1–2 l/h
The IMT-U8 PSG detects water leaks with a sensitivity of 1–2 l/h, picking up even a dripping tap or a running toilet. When it detects unusual flow, it automatically shuts off the water supply to the whole household, preventing flooding while you are at work or on holiday. Up to 7 flood sensors can be connected to the unit and placed in risk areas, such as the basement, under the dishwasher or washing machine, or anywhere a leak could occur. The water supply can also be shut off or opened remotely via the E-WATER app, even from a beach by the sea.
Long PAN membrane life
The hydrophilic PAN (polyacrylonitrile) membrane is highly resistant to biofouling and easy to flush. It lasts up to 36 months, depending on the quality of the incoming water. Automatic flushing significantly extends membrane life compared with manual models. We recommend installing an IMT-M5 or IMT-M8 pressure regulator with a mechanical pre-filter upstream of the IMT-U8 PSG to extend membrane life as much as possible.
Sturdy construction and outstanding F. A. Porsche design
The brushed 304 stainless steel housing withstands both dynamic water hammer pressure and static pressure. The unit was designed by studio F. A. Porsche, so it is not only fully functional but also exceptionally attractive. The horizontal support allows placement on a flat surface, and the supplied brackets allow wall mounting.

FAQ
Everything you need to know about the IMT-U8 PSG
What is the IMT-U8 PSG and how does it differ from the IMT-U8?
The IMT-U8 PSG is the fully automatic version of the IMT-U8 whole-house ultrafiltration unit. Compared with the basic model, it adds automatic membrane flushing, a large clear display, Wi-Fi with the E-WATER app, an automatic shut-off valve and water leak detection from 1–2 l/h. Up to 7 flood sensors can be connected. The flow rate is 4 m3/h. It requires an electrical socket and a drain pipe.
How does the IMT-U8 PSG protect the house from flooding?
The built-in flow detector monitors water consumption in real time with a sensitivity of 1–2 l/h, picking up even a dripping tap or a running toilet. When it detects unusual flow, it automatically shuts off the water supply to the whole household. You can connect up to 7 flood sensors under the dishwasher or washing machine, in the basement or anywhere a leak could occur. The water supply can also be controlled remotely via the E-WATER app, even from a beach by the sea.
What does the IMT-U8 PSG remove from water?
The IMT-U8 PSG removes viruses, bacteria, algae, sludge, sediments and microplastics using a PAN membrane with 0.01 micrometre pores. It physically captures microorganisms and removes them from the water, including dead cells, while keeping beneficial minerals (calcium, magnesium). It does not remove chemical contaminants such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals or heavy metals; for maximum drinking water protection, we recommend adding, for example, IMT-NC9 nanofiltration.
Will the IMT-U8 PSG replace a UV lamp?
Yes, and it is more effective and more convenient to run. A UV lamp only inactivates bacteria and viruses, but their bodies remain in the water, and the bulb must be replaced and radiation intensity checked regularly. The IMT-U8 PSG physically captures microorganisms with its membrane and removes them from the water. Automatic flushing and a status display eliminate the need for any manual supervision — the unit looks after itself.
Which buildings is the IMT-U8 PSG best suited for?
The IMT-U8 PSG is ideal for buildings where automation and protection against water damage are key, such as timber-frame houses (highly sensitive to water), cottages and holiday homes left empty for long periods, hotels and guesthouses without permanent staff, and family houses with higher consumption and comfort requirements. A flow rate of 4 m3/h covers even demanding buildings.
Is the IMT-U8 PSG suitable for well water?
Yes. The IMT-U8 PSG reliably removes bacteria, viruses, algae, sludge and sediments typical of well water. Automatic flushing is particularly useful for well water with higher turbidity, extending membrane life without manual intervention. If the water contains pesticides, pharmaceuticals or heavy metals, we recommend adding, for example, IMT-NC9 nanofiltration. H2O nanotec offers a free consultation based on your water analysis.
Does the IMT-U8 PSG need electricity?
Yes. Unlike the basic IMT-U7 and IMT-U8 models, the PSG version requires an electrical socket (230 V) to power the automation, display, Wi-Fi module and leak detector. The filtration itself is driven by household mains pressure and needs no pump. A drain pipe is also required at the installation site for automatic membrane flushing.
How long does the membrane last and how is it replaced?
The PAN membrane lasts up to 36 months (depending on the quality of the incoming water). Automatic flushing extends membrane life compared with manual models. We recommend installing a pressure regulator with a mechanical pre-filter (IMT-M5 or IMT-M8) upstream of the IMT-U8 PSG to extend its life as much as possible. The display automatically alerts you when the membrane needs replacing.
🔬 Scientific basis: The effectiveness of ultrafiltration in removing E. coli and coliform bacteria from well water has been documented by RNDr. Jiří Polman CSc., managing director of H2O nanotec, with reference to scientific literature (LeChevallier et al., Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 1988).
