Why use an anti-chlorine shower filter?

How does the IMT-J2 shower filter work?

After passing through the filter cartridge, the water flows directly to the shower head. The filter operates purely on the pressure of the water mains, so it requires no electricity, no wastewater pipe, and no additional connection.

Why doesn't the IMT-J2 use activated carbon?

Activated carbon is a commonly used filtering medium, but its effectiveness depends, among other things, on water temperature, filter size, the amount of filtering material, and the contact time between the water and the carbon.

In the shower, water usually flows relatively quickly and is warm. Small shower filters based solely on activated carbon may therefore not always have a sufficiently long contact time for effective chlorine reduction.

The IMT-J2 uses a combination of KDF media and calcium sulphite. KDF media helps reduce chlorine through an oxidation-reduction process, while calcium sulphite reacts quickly and chemically with residual chlorine. This combination is therefore suitable for typical showering conditions, meaning higher flow rates and warm water.

Filtration effectiveness always depends on the quality of the incoming water, its composition, temperature, flow rate, and the condition of the filter cartridge.

IMT-J2 vs. a standard activated-carbon-only filter

Shower filter installation in about 5 minutes

The IMT-J2 shower filter has a standard universal 1/2" thread, used on most common shower systems. The filter is installed between the water supply and the shower hose, or between the shower arm and the head.

Installation steps:

1. Turn off the water and unscrew the shower hose or head.
2. Check that the seal is correctly fitted in the connection.
3. Screw the IMT-J2 filter onto the water supply.
4. Attach the shower hose or shower head to the filter.
5. Carefully turn the water back on and check the connections for leaks.
6. Installation usually requires no plumber or special tools. Depending on the shower's design, the included seal or a suitable sealing tape may be needed for a proper seal.

Will the filter affect water pressure or flow?

The IMT-J2 shower filter is designed for a flow rate of up to 10 litres per minute at a working pressure of 0.1–0.4 MPa. When properly installed and with an unclogged filter cartridge, it maintains a comfortable water flow for everyday showering.

A gradual decrease in flow may indicate that sediment has built up in the mechanical part of the filter or that the filter cartridge needs replacing. The rate of clogging depends on the quality of the incoming water and the intensity of use.

How often should the filter cartridge be replaced?

The recommended replacement interval for the filter cartridge is approximately up to 6 months. The actual lifespan depends on water quality, the amount of chlorine and sediment, the number of people in the household, and how often the shower is used.

The cartridge lasts up to 6 months or 150,000 litres, which is roughly equivalent to 4 to 8 ten-minute showers per day. With higher water consumption or a larger household, earlier replacement of the cartridge is recommended.

Consider replacing the filter cartridge if:

• the cartridge has been in use for more than 6 months,
• a noticeable chlorine smell in the water reappears,
• there is a visible decrease in flow rate,
• a larger amount of deposits builds up in the filter,
