Ultrafiltration
Ultrafiltration – Effective Water Protection with 0.01 μm Membrane
Ultrafiltration systems use membranes with microscopic pores of just 0.01 micrometer. This technology removes sediments, algae, viruses, and bacteria while preserving all beneficial minerals in the water.
It is an ideal solution for treating well water and reliably eliminates both live and dead bacteria, making it a cost-effective alternative to expensive UV lamps. Ultrafiltration also offers higher water production compared to nanofiltration or reverse osmosis.
We offer both under-sink systems and solutions for connection to the main water line directly after the water meter.

FAQ
Everything you need to know about ultrafiltration
What is ultrafiltration and how does it work?
Ultrafiltration is mechanical membrane filtration with a pore size of 0.01 micron. Water passes through a membrane that captures bacteria, viruses, sediment, microplastics and other impurities, while beneficial minerals remain in the water.
Does ultrafiltration fully replace a UV lamp?
Yes. Ultrafiltration removes bacteria and viruses mechanically through the membrane, so you need neither a UV lamp nor replacement bulbs. It also works without electricity — except for the D5 and U8 PSG models, which have electronics for a display or automatic operation.
Which ultrafiltration model should I choose for a family house?
For installation on the main water supply to the whole house, the IMT-U5, IMT-U7, IMT-U8 models or the fully automatic premium IMT-U8 PSG are designed. For filtration at the sink only (drinking water), the under-sink IMT-D3 or IMT-D5 models are suitable.
How often does the filter cartridge need replacing?
The PAN/UF membrane lasts up to 36 months depending on the quality of the inlet water. Models with an integrated carbon filter (D3, D5) also require the carbon cartridge to be replaced approximately once a year.
Is ultrafiltration suitable for well water?
Yes, ultrafiltration is suitable for both well water and mains water. For heavily contaminated well water, we recommend fitting a pre-filter or a pressure regulator with pre-filter before the ultrafiltration to extend the membrane's life.
What if I also need to remove pesticides or heavy metals?
Ultrafiltration does not remove dissolved substances such as pesticides, nitrates or heavy metals. For these cases we recommend nanofiltration or reverse osmosis, which have a finer filter medium.
